Football Club Dunav ((ブルガリア語:Футболен клуб Дунав)) is a Bulgarian football club from the city of Ruse. It was founded in 1949 and they participate in the B Group, the second division of Bulgarian football. Dunav Ruse's team colours are blue and white. The team is named after the Danube River ((ブルガリア語:Дунав)). They play their home matches at the Gradski Stadium, which has a capacity of around 22,000. == History == Over the years, the team has been named Sava, Napredak, Levski, Varush, Angel Kanchev, Rakovski, Rusenets, Dinamo, Spartak, DNA, Torpedo and Partizanin. They had played in professional A PFG (Disbanded between 1940–1948) between 1937–1940, 1951, 1956, 1958-1967 (10 seasons), 1968–1973, 1974–1977, 1984–1986, 1988–1991 and 1996-1998 (as Rakovski for last period). Among the team's achievements are a final in the Bulgarian championship in 1937, an A PFG (top division) fourth place in 1975 and Bulgarian Cup finals in 1938, 1939, 1941 and 1962. Dunav Ruse also participated in the UEFA Cup in 1975–76, when they were eliminated by A.S. Roma after a 2–0 defeat in Rome and a memorable 1–0 win over the Italian team in Ruse. Dunav Ruse, under playing manager Engibar Engibarov, won the Cup of Bulgarian Amateur Football League in 2003–04, the same year they returned to the B PFG after a hiatus in the amateur divisions and financial problems since the team were relegated from the A PFG in 1991. From 5 January 2006 until 2 October, they were managed by the noted specialist Ferario Spasov and have acquired some well-known footballers and loaned talented PFC Litex Lovech youngsters in an attempt to again reach the A PFG. The season 2009–10 was very controversial and the dream of reaching A PFG, which is the highest level of the Bulgarian football almost became a reality. Dunav finished the fall season in 1st place, leaving behind them the teams of Kaliakra Kavarna and Nesebar. The spring season started very well and the team was in a row with a couple of very significant wins, but they won only one game in their last 7 matches. However some of the players had marked their potential and showed the fans that in the next season, Dunav can really promote to "A" PFG. The new season 2010–11 started not so well for Dunav. The team was left by some of their good players, because of the financial crisis in the team. The club has withdrawn from B PFG in February 2011 for a big finance debt and was dissolved. A new team called "Dunav 2010" started from the lowest levels of Bulgarian football.
